The tech giant Xiaomi is launching two new budget phones, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus on 14th March 2018.

DISPLAY - The Redmi 5 has a 5.7" HD IPS display and resolution is 1440×720. The Redmi 5 plus has a 5.99" display with a resolution of 2160×1080. Both phones have a 18:9 aspect ratio which means a bazzel-less display. The displays have Gorilla glass protection but the specific version is not yet mentioned.

PROCESSOR - The Redmi 5 comes with an octacore Snapdragon 450 processor whereas the Redmi 5 plus has a Snapdragon 625 octacore processor. Both phones have a Adrenoo 506 GPU.

CAMERA - The primary camera of both the phones are of 12MP, f2/2 aperture and selfie cameras are just  5MP. The Redmi 5 supports 1080p while the 5 plus supports 4K video recording. Neither of the phones have Optical Image Stabilization.

FINGERPRINT SENSOR - Both the phones have a fast and responsive fingerprint sensor at the back just below the camera.

DESIGN - Both phones have metal body with plastic upper and lower parts for antenna bands. They have LED notification lights, single speaker, dual mics, IR sensor and 3.5mm jacks.

VARIANTS - The Redmi 5 comes in three variants 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB and the Redmi 5plus comes in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB RAM/ROM.

SIM SLOT - The phones come with the usual hybrid slim slot in which you can either use two sim cards or a sim card and a memory card expandable upto 256GB.

OPERATING SYSTEM - Both phones run on Android Nougat 7.1.2 topped with MIUI 9.

BATTERY - Redmi 5 sports a 3300mAH battery and Redmi 5 plus has a 4000mAH battery, both with good battery life and backup. The charger is 5V/2A.

COLORS - Black, blue, gold and pink color variants are present.

PRICE - The Redmi 5 2GB base model is expected to be 8000INR, 3GB be 9000INR and 4GB to be 11000. The 5 plus would be around 10-13k.
